Give Skilly Your Own Brand And Voice
One of the first things you'll want to do with your skilly guide is to make it your own so that it looks, talks, and thinks like a dedicated member of your team. That, along with adding knowledge, is key to onboarding skilly successfully.
Start by navigating to AI Agent > Customize:

This is where you'll do virtually all your customizing of each skilly instance, beginning with Naming Your Skilly. Your skilly greets all users with this name, and if you create multiple skillies, their names will be an easy way to distinguish them. Go ahead and give it an on-brand name (ours here is Upskilly).
Once you've changed the name, update your Skilly Image and Welcome Message as well. These three changes constitute the experience users will see when they first greet your skilly:

If you like, you can skip down to Colors & Fonts to finish off your visual branding, including customizing the look of the chat bubble, which is your users' shortcut to accessing skilly anywhere on your site. Adding your organization's colors and fonts is one of the easiest ways to provide a seamless experience with your site.

Customize How Your Skilly Converses
You want your skilly to provide responses and resources the same way any of your front-facing teammates would, and these are some of the key areas where you can hone its approach:
- Target Audience: gives skilly an idea of the kind of person your user is most likely to be. What are their typical roles & responsibilities? What overarching needs do they tend to have? skilly takes an educated guess about the target audience based on your website, but you can rewrite it as you see fit, or click "Improve Audience" once you've uploaded additional knowledge, and skilly will automatically revise its understanding of your users.
- Opening Prompt: this is skilly's greeting to users who click on the chat bubble shortcut, and is accompanied by Starter Questions. It's a good idea to let your users know what popular questions or needs your skilly can help them with here.
- Answer Length: should your skilly be more concise, or more verbose? Customize this setting along a five-point scale.
- Resources: enable "Resources" and/or "Answers" if you want your users to see what source information skilly referenced in order to produce its response. These toggles will only enable visibility of knowledge marked "External" (read our articles on adding knowledge to learn more).

There are a few other customizations here that are self-explanatory, and others like the Contact Form which we cover in greater detail elsewhere.
Ready To Launch? 🚀
All your skilly deployment options are at the bottom of your Customizations page, and we have another article that explains it all! Once you're familiar with it, and have added enough knowledge that you like what you're hearing from skilly, you'll be all set to start engaging with users.
